Biography
Harris is a Marine Geophysicist/Oceanographer working as the Director of Education & Outreach for the Northern Gulf Institute at Mississippi State University. His work includes STEAM Curriculum Design, Professional Development, and Field/Experiential Learning Opportunities for Educators, Students, and Gulf Region Stakeholders as well as Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Education and Research, and Near Coastal Research Vessel Operations. Harris is a divemaster and hyperbaric medic and hyperbaric chamber operator, a volunteer firefighter with East Oktibbeha County Fire Department and a Major with 2nd BDE/220th Military Police Headquarters and a Certified Military Emergency Management Specialist. Harris is a former faculty member with the MSU Department of Geosciences as well as former faculty at both Starkville Highschool (Mathematics) and Columbus (Cook) Elementary (Science and Mathematics).
